Probable Causes and Solutions

Reoccurring high temperature alarms (acBoardTemperatureAlarm)

This alarm indicates that the chassis' internal temperature is too high for normal operation. Possible causes and solutions:

1. Check that the air temperature of the room in which the chassis is installed is at a level for normal operation. If not, reduce the room temperature for normal operating levels using, for example, an air conditioner.
2. If the room temperature is at normal operating levels, make sure that all unoccupied module slots are covered with blank panels. This ensures proper air flow (by the Fan Trays) inside the chassis for cooling.
3. Make sure that the perforated grills (ventilation outlets) of the Fan Tray modules on either side of the chassis are not obstructed for proper air flow. Obstruction can be due to an external object (e.g., being too close to a wall) or due to accumulation of dust particles or dirt on the perforated grills.
4. Make sure that the internal components are free of dust particles. Power off the chassis, and then pull out all the modules including the Fan Tray modules and clean them using an air pressure cleaning gun.
5. Check if a Fan Tray alarm (acFanTrayAlarm) also exists, which indicates a fault in a Fan Tray module. If this is the case, you need to replace the Fan Tray (as described in Replacing the Fan Tray Modules ). You can also check the status of the Fan Tray modules using the STATUS LEDs on the Fan Tray modules (as described in Fan Tray Module).
